DESERTERS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR - THE HOME FRONT

BRITISH WIDOWS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR - THE FORGOTTEN LEGION

BRITISH WIDOWS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR - THE FORGOTTEN LEGION

When thinking about First World War deserters, most people bring to mind those who were shot at dawn and pardoned nearly 100 years later.  But these men were a tiny minority of those who deserted the armed forces during the First World War. This talk looks at the much bigger picture.

'A HORRIBLE CRIME OF MURDER'

FIRST WORLD WAR WIDOWS AND EMIGRATION

FIRST WORLD WAR WIDOWS AND EMIGRATION

MEN, MACHINES AND MOUSETRAPS - A LEEDS FIRM AT WAR

THE TREASURES OF LAWNSWOOD CEMETERY

Ireland held a unique position as part of the British Isles during the First World War. It proved an attractive destination for deserters, for reasons which will become clear in this talk.

A LIFE OF CRIME

MEN, MACHINES AND MOUSETRAPS - A LEEDS FIRM AT WAR

What do criminal defence solicitors actually do? There is probably no profession that is as inaccurately portrayed in the media than that of a criminal defence solicitor. Drawing on over 25 years of experience, this talk demonstrates the realities of life on the front line of justice.
